Volume I · Psilocybin — The Mushroom, the Molecule & the Mind
A nine-volume audit of the psychedelic literature by Richard L. Pope. It asks one question of every claim: what has actually been demonstrated? Not what has been repeated most often, not what seems plausible because a mechanism can be named, and not what must be false simply because the claim is extraordinary.
Volume I is published as a fixed-layout EPUB ebook, £7.99. The download link is sent by email after checkout. Volume II: LSD and Volume III: DMT are also published, £7.99 each. Volumes I to III are published; Volume IV: Ayahuasca is in production; Volumes V to IX are planned.
Two ways to read. Every purchase includes both the EPUB download and online reading: sign in with the email you bought with and Volume I opens in your browser from your own library, which remembers where you left off.
The governing principle
A purified molecule does not automatically speak for a mushroom. A selected trial population does not automatically speak for everyone. A receptor does not automatically become an experience, and an experience does not automatically become an ontology. Where a claim moves between those levels, the Atlas asks what earned the transfer.
Scepticism can overreach too. Uncertainty is not evidence of impossibility, and familiarity does not exempt an ordinary explanation from evidence. The aim is neither belief nor debunking: possibilities may enter the room, and then they must show their papers.
The same framework used in The Fungal Evidence Atlas — maturity, direction, replication, claim gap and transfer confidence — carries into this series.
The series
The Psychedelic Evidence Atlas is canonically a nine-volume series. Volumes I to III are published; Volume IV: Ayahuasca is in production; Volumes V to IX are planned.

Volume I structure
Seven parts, twenty-six chapters, and a closing account of the claims that survived.
The organism before the myth, and the problems of identity that follow it.
From mushroom to molecule, what else the mushroom contains, and what happens when evidence changes containers.
Use before the laboratory, discovery and appropriation, and the long silence that followed.
Why there is no single trip, what returns across accounts, and where receptor talk stops explaining experience.
When psilocybin actually works, depression on trial, and the therapy inside the drug trial.
Safety for whom, and the missing denominator behind reassuring harm figures.
The experiments worth doing, and the claims that survived the audit.
