Baseline: the evidence position at publication
The starting record for future updates to The Living Earth. The first edition attaches each of its twenty-two chapters to an evidence companion and chapter-level sources, and closes by separating what we know from what we think. Future bulletins will record new studies, corrections and any change to what the book concludes.
What would change the map
- Environmental microbial exposure and psychological outcomes — the book's own missing experiment: a controlled comparison that measures what reached the person and lets the psychological outcome lead.
- Mechanism claims — parallel changes are not enough; a mechanism needs more than simultaneous movement in environmental and human measures.
- Dose and exposure routes — how much contact, by what route, under what conditions, before a benefit claim can carry weight.
- Restoration and repair — the limits of ecological recovery, and what evidence-led conservation can actually support.
Manuscript decisions
- Baseline recorded. No changes. Future bulletins will state what changed: a new human study, a stronger control, a correction to a source, or a revised conclusion.
